Advanced Yoga, Headstand Esther shows another way to get into a tripod headstand or Sirsasana from a standing forward bend position. Headstand is a controversial pose. While it is known as the King of Poses because of its reported benefits, some teachers feel the weight on the neck is too great a risk and no longer teach it for that reason.
These instructions are meant as a guide only and we recommend practising in the presence of a teacher who can help you with your alignment. Only attempt this if you know how to perform a headstand safely. Read our step-by step guide for alternatives and ways to build up your strength for the pose.
